As quoted by The Liverpool Echo, Joe Gomez has revealed his intentions to stay at the club this season and get a place in the first team.
The young defender is highly thought of amongst the Reds and we think he could still be a top defender despite his injuries over the last couple of years.
Indeed, he is still very young and if he can stay fit there is every chance Jurgen Klopp can mould him into a top defender for the seasons ahead.
Playing this campaign, though, is what Gomez wants to do and that is what he has hinted at in his recent comments with him saying:
“The main thing is getting regular football.
“I just want to get back to enjoying my football and playing consistently.”
For sure, then, Gomez seems ready for the battle and if he proves himself good enough we’d have no qualms playing him regularly next season.
