As quoted by The Liverpool Echo, Barcelona’s Sporting Director Robert Fernandez has said that it is going to prove hard to get Philippe Coutinho from the Reds in a boost to our chances.

Things have really escalated in recent times involving the Brazilian with a transfer request seemingly getting handed in after Barcelona upped their efforts to sign him.

However, there is still no deal in place despite contrasting reports about contracts and personal terms being agreed and with under a fortnight left in the window, there’s still much that could happen.

Indeed, Fernandez’s comments suggest that a deal might not even go through with him saying that it’s particularly hard to try and get a player like Coutinho as he has no release clause in his contract.

He said:

“Not just Barca but any team looking for top quality players are getting involved in a very difficult situation in this market.

“Why? Because the market is where clubs like us want to sign top quality players. There’s no buy-out clauses so that makes things trickier.”

His words, then, could just suggest that our Brazilian playmaker will be staying put for now.
