Speaking to Boylesports – via The Express – Kevin Kilbane has said that of all the English sides it’s Liverpool that are least likely to make it through the group stages.

The Reds did not get off to the greatest start in the group with a 2-2 home draw with Sevilla but there was some positives and a win over Spartak Moscow would strengthen our position.

For Kilbane, though, it looks as though it could be the Reds, if any side, that bows out of the competition before we get to the knockout stages next year.

The former midfielder said:

“I think all the English sides have a great chance of progressing from the group stages.

“Liverpool, from the way they’ve started, maybe don’t give you much optimism.”

For sure, then, Kilbane seems to have his doubts but we’ve only been playing for one game in Europe so far and so it seems a bit early to start judging.

Indeed, we think it’s best to take stock after the third game, which comes after this one tonight.

Thoughts, Reds? Let us know below!
