The Reds are back in Champions League action this week as we head out to Moscow today to face Spartak Moscow tomorrow night.
The men from Anfield got off to a frustrating start in the group last time out as we drew at home to Sevilla 2-2 in a game we should have won.
For sure, then, we need to try and get three points in what is likely to be a hostile atmosphere before playing away at Maribor next.
With the game in mind, then, we’ve been taking a look at some stats – using Whoscored – and so here is what we found from both clubs’ records so far in their respective leagues and Europe:
Overall the Reds have played Spartak twice and won both times, so that is a positive for us. However, the Russians have a better average possession: 54.6% to 53.7% and better pass success: 80.7% to 79.4% to us this season.
Goals-wise, they’ve got 17 goals in 12 games to our 14 goals in 7 games and, finally, Quincy Promes is the one to watch for them with his 6 goals and 3 assists so far, compared to Mo Salah’s 5 goals and 1 assist.
