As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, former skipper and now U18 manager Steven Gerrard has lavished praise on his young goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

The young Polish stopper is the man between the sticks for Gerrard’s young Reds and it seems as though our legendary former captain has been impressed with what he has seen.

Speaking after the ‘keeper’s performance against Maribor in the UEFA Youth League, he said:

“He is coming for crosses and making them look easy, most keepers would be in trouble with those crosses but he commands his box so well.”

Initially, Grabara started wobbly with a misjudged move allowing Maribor to score with a ball bouncing over his head.

He regrouped quickly, though, and showed maturity as he pulled off some good saves – including one from a penalty kick.

He could be on his way through to the senior side in the coming years, then, and we’re hoping he is someone who commands his area and organises his defence well.
