You had to feel a bit sorry for Maribor last night as they were the side to eventually take the full force of our attack – something that had been brewing for a while.
Game after game, recently, the Reds have had a whole host of chances and failed to put them away so at least it looks as though we’ve got our shooting boots back.
Indeed, a 7-0 win was produced by the Reds against the Slovenians – to see us top of the group – and now the plan is to hopefully take that form into our game with Spurs this weekend.
Certainly, Emre Can was impressed with what he saw and he is now looking for the Reds to build on it, with him saying – as per the club’s official website:
“It was great.
“We didn’t concede a goal, that’s important as well, and then we scored goals, created good chances, and I think it was a deserved win.
“You have to score and that was the reason we didn’t win the last games.
“Today we did it very well and I hope that was the game where it starts now again, the winning ways. It was a great performance and [we have] Sunday now, against Tottenham – a great game and hopefully we’ll play similar to today.”
