According to Football.London, Liverpool and Arsenal have been handed a boost in the chase to sign Thomas Lemar with Bayern Munich apparently pulling out of the race.
A potentially world class star, Lemar tore things up last season with Monaco – leading him to be linked with a move to the Reds and the Gunners in the summer.
A late flurry of activity on transfer deadline day seemed to get everyone hyped up, too, but nothing came of any of those stories – even though it appears there is still interest.
Whoever tries to sign him, then, will surely be getting a good player if successful and the chances of us doing that have been given a boost by this Bayern-related pull out.
We have to wonder, though, whether we really are that interested and time will tell over the next couple of windows or so.
