The Reds were back in Champions League action last night as we headed to Slovenia to face the country’s champions Maribor in the third group game.
The Reds had never faced the men in purple before in Europe but there was no time for pleasantries once the first whistle went last night.
Indeed, with us needing a win after two points from two games in the group, we went about our business quickly and ruthlessly as we went 3-0 up in the first 20 minutes.
The gulf in class was pretty clear throughout, too, as we pressed and harassed with our front three of Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Philippe Coutinho getting on the score-sheet.
A fourth would follow before half-time before the second half saw three more goals – leaving the final score to be 7-0 and the Reds to be left in much better shape in the group.
