Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live – via Sport Review – Liverpool icon John Aldridge has told the Reds to go after Riyad Mahrez as Philippe Coutinho’s replacement.

The Reds have seen the Brazilian Coutinho leave in this transfer window for a lot of money and now the onus is surely on us getting a replacement in.

Obviously, getting someone in with the talent of the Barcelona man is no mean feat, too, especially in the middle of the season, but Aldo clearly feels as though the Reds should get after the Algerian Premier League winner.

He said:

“Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez has played in the Premier League for some years and everybody has seen the ability he has got, so he ticks a lot of boxes.”

Evidently, then, our former striker is a back fan of the winger and he does play in the same kind of role that Coutinho did.

If we had to pick between him or someone like Thomas Lemar, though, we’d probably go for the latter.

Thoughts, Reds? Let us know below!
