Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Nathaniel Clyne is closer to a return than he has been since his injury in the summer of last year.

The right back got injured during the pre-season work that was being done and has suffered since with set-backs leaving him well away from the side.

In his place, though, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold have excelled and it’ll be good to see the trio battling for game time from when he gets back fit.

It appears, too, that that is not far away now with Klopp quoted by the official club website as saying:

“I’m not 100 per cent sure with Clyney, [he] is still not in team training but he is as close [as he has been] since the summer.”

This is good news, then, and the sooner he is back the better as we look to end this season with a few strong months both domestically and in Europe.
