Liverpool travelled to Southampton last night as we took on the Saints in our latest Premier League fixture.
After seeing Arsenal and Manchester United both lose earlier on in the Premier League fixture list, the Reds knew a win would be a huge boost to our top four chances.
Things started well when Roberto Firmino scored early on after Mo Salah’s square ball but it was not until just before half-time that we hit the net again as the same pair combined for Salah to this time be the scorer.
After the break, it was a case of going through the motions and keeping Southampton at arm’s length which we did with aplomb and that was something pleasant to see.
