Liverpool are looking to bolster their side significantly this summer as the Reds aim to end a long wait for top-flight glory after two impressive campaigns under Jurgen Klopp.

The German boss has assembled a deadly strike force consisting of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane annd has now turned his head towards the other end of the field, signing Virgil Van Dijk for a club-record fee in January.

Liverpool are now looking to sign a top-class goalkeeper to play behind the Dutch international and are widely attributed with interest in Roma’s highly-rated stopper Alisson, although they could face a fight with Real Madrid for the Brazilian’s services.

Whilst the Reds have the funds to complete a move following the sale of Philippe Coutinho in January, Roma will fight tooth and nail to keep the 25-year-old at the club and coach Eusebio Di Francesco is confident of retaining his signature.

Speaking to reporters about the interest in Alisson after Roma’s 2-0 defeat to Crotone this weekend, he said:

“I’m very calm, we do not have to talk about the market in March because we have important games. It is obvious that such a player is well liked, but we have to think big. We must start holding onto some players.”

Roma face a fierce fight to retain Champions League football over the coming years due to competition with the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan and Lazio, with Alisson potentially being crucial to that task.
