Liverpool have performed spectacularly this season and face a stern fight in the final months of the campaign as they seek to secure second-spot in the Premier League and overcome Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals.

A rise of optimism at Anfield has left fans dreaming of ending their long wait for Premier League glory next season, although it’s clear that there is still work to do in order to improve the side and bridge the gap to Pep Guardiola’s runaway leaders.

One of the issues facing Liverpool heading into the summer is the potential loss of Emre Can, linked with the Citizens and Juventus, who is rapidly approaching the end of his contract and has refused to put pen to paper on an extension.

Remarkably, The Daily Mirror state the German World Cup hopeful is demanding a whopping £200k-a-week to commit to a renewal with Liverpool and that’s raised the likelihood of the 24-year-old leaving Anfield.

Liverpool are unlikely to meet those demands, although further talks are expected before the end of the season.
