Liverpool are seeking defensive reinforcements this summer as they look to topple Manchester City from their Premier League perch next season and want the ideal centre-half partner for £75m man Virgil Van Dijk.

Plenty of reports have attributed Jurgen Klopp’s side with an interest in Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet but it seems that they’ll face a fierce battle to secure the signature of the Champions League quarter-finalist.

The Sun state Liverpool’s arch-rivals Manchester United have joined the hunt for the 22-year-old defender, who faced off against Jose Mourinho’s side on the continental stage this season- helping Sevilla overcome the Red Devils.

Also linked with Barcelona, Lenglet has become one of the hottest defensive properties in European football and the report states his services could be available for the bargain price of just £20m- which is a fee that Liverpool can certainly afford.

With Sevilla at serious risk of missing out on European football next season, Lenglet could easily be tempted with a move away from Andalusia.
