Liverpool’s search for recruits ahead of the summer window as they plan a push to topple Manchester City from their Premier League perch has led to a new name emerging in the press, with the Reds going toe-to-toe with their top-flight rivals.

Turkish outlet Aksam report that Jurgen Klopp’s side are targeting a swoop for highly-rated Trabzonspor ace Abdulkadir Omur, after accepting defeat in their highly ambitious pursuit of Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio.

Rated at £18m, Omur only made his senior debut in December 2016 but has already caught the eye of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, amongst others, but Liverpool are ready to push through a deal for the teenager who has scored three goals and registered five assists.

Already likened to Lionel Messi and Gheorghe Hagi, Omur has excelled during his first full senior season in Turkey and boasts three caps for his nations’ U19 side.

Liverpool are seeking recruits to bolster their squad depth next season and signing Omur would certainly be an ideal switch, allowing the youngster to develop under the close guidance of Klopp.
