Calciomercato.com report that Liverpool may consider re-entering the race to sign Roma defender Kostas Manolas.

The Italian website say the Reds have monitored the Greek international closely in the past, but they may have competition from Manchester United for his signature this time.

Alex Ferguson was in the stands to see the defender score the crucial third goal for the Giallorossi as they knocked out Barcelona in the quarter finals of the Champions League.

The Manchester Evening News suggests that the ex United boss may have been more impressed by Manolas than the centre back he was reportedly keeping his eye on: Barca’s Samuel Umtiti.

With MEN speculating on United’s interest and Calciomercato suggesting a prospective approach from the Reds, there doesn’t seem to be much concrete evidence in either report that a bid is imminent from either club.

On top of that, Manolas turned down a move to Zenit St Petersburg in June, and then signed a new deal to stay at the Stadio Olimpico in December.
