Liverpool face a stern task this summer replacing Germany international Emre Can, as the 24-year-old edges closer to a departure on a free transfer in the coming months after snubbing the offers of a new deal at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are searching the market for the ideal candidate to fill Can’s void in the middle of the field and The Mirror names Napoli ace Jorginho has a target, with the Reds said to be eyeing a £50m swoop for the Italy international.

Jorginho has been ever-present for the Serie A title-chasing side this season and Liverpool are confident they can win the battle for his signature, despite rival interest in the market from the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

Capped five times by Italy, 26-year-old Jorginho is likely to be a key-part of his national side’s new look side after this summer’s World Cup, where the European giants remarkably failed to qualify after losing to Sweden in the play-offs.
