Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp knows he has a task on his hand this summer to bolster his side at Anfield, with midfield recruits necessary due to the imminent loss of Germany international Emre Can on a free transfer.

The Champions League semi-finalists have been prepared for the departure for a long time though and a fresh name has emerged in their sights, with The Sun stating the Reds are chasing a deal for Wolves ace Ruben Neves.

Portugal international Neves, 21, moved to Molineux last season from Porto in a transfer that raised eyebrows across Europe and has since excelled for the Championship leaders, who recently sealed their return to the Premier League for next season.

Neves has hit six stunning goals from outside the box to aid his side and Liverpool could secure his services for a fee in the region of £18m, handing Wolves a profit on the club-record £15m figure they parted with last season.

However, Neves has stated he’s happy with his current surroundings and any offer from Liverpool would have to come with first-team assurances, whilst interest in his services could rise significantly following this summer’s World Cup.
