Red Bull Salzburg have refused to comment on speculation that Valon Berisha could be joining Liverpool at the end of the season.
Spox reported on Tuesday that the Kosovan international was watched by Reds scouts last month when the Austrian club triumphed over Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 of the Europa League.
Berisha was crucial in Salzburg’s advancement to the quarter finals, scoring both goals in their 2-1 aggregate victory over the German side. His club were hesitant to talk about his future before tonight’s quarter final second leg match against Lazio. They were quoted as saying:
“Our focus is on the game against Lazio, and we have other important goals to defend the Bundesliga title and Cup victory, so we do not have the time to join the transfer whispers.”
The Austrian Bundesliga league leaders trail 4-2 from the first leg, but have two crucial away goals, one of which was scored by Berisha.
The 25 year old has saved his best performances in Europe with five goals in ten games during Salzburg’s superb run to the last eight. In domestic competitions, he has managed six goals and contributed nine assists in 25 matches.
