Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster is a target for two Bundesliga clubs as fears grow that the 18-year-old will be the next young English player to head abroad, according to The Times.

The newspaper report that Borussia Monchengladbach are leading the hunt for Brewster, with RB Leipzig also showing a keen interest.

The Times claim that Monchengladbach director Max Eberl has made a ‘serious play’ for the youngster since his Golden Boot-winning form at the Under-17 World Cup last summer.

It is said that Brewster is yet to sign a professional deal on Merseyside even after turning 18 recently, and there is also interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Good move for Liverpool?

No.

Brewster has been hailed as one of the country’s top young talents, and for the Reds to lose him even before his first-team debut would be disastrous.

Liverpool have invested a lot into the 18-year-old since he joined from Chelsea three years ago, and manager Jurgen Klopp is a massive fan of him as well.

The club must do all they can to try and get Brewster to stick around at Anfield, and that may involve providing some first-team guarantees for next season.

Likely to happen?

Considering the fact that there are several young English players in Germany right now – Reece Oxford at Monchengladbach, Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund and Ademola Lookman at RB Leipzig – a move is not out of the question.

However, you would think that Brewster may want to give himself a real shot at playing for Liverpool, and he will see the chances afforded to other young players and think he has a good chance of doing so.
