Juventus will announce the signing of Liverpool midfielder Emre Can on a free transfer on the 27th of May, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper report, as translated by Football Italia, that negotiations with the 24-year-old Germany international are now nearing the finish line after several months of uncertainty.

Corriere dello Sport claim that Juventus are now preparing to make the announcement of Can’s signing on the day after Liverpool face Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

It is said that Can will put pen to paper on a five-year deal worth £4.4million-a-year plus bonuses, although the issue of a release clause is still not yet sorted, with Juventus unsure about including one.

Good move for Liverpool?

Can’s exit will be a blow for Liverpool, but it is one that has been expected to take place for so long now. Rumours of Can’s move to Juventus have been swirling since December, and it is somewhat of a surprise that a deal has not been fully agreed yet.

Either way, that looks like it has finally happened, and final preparations are now in place for the announcement. Jurgen Klopp will be disappointed to see his compatriot leave, especially after such a successful season, but his exit is not one that the club cannot recover from immediately.

There is the impending arrival of Naby Keita which will massively soften the blow, and there will undoubtedly be more incomings over the summer months as Klopp sets about building a squad to challenge for honours on more than one front next season.

Talk has begun in recent days about a move for Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira, which would be an interesting one considering his Germany teammate is going the other way.

Likely to happen?

Yes. This one looks all but done.

Whether the 27th of May will be the day it is announced is unknown, but a deal does look close.
