Emre Can is raring to go ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final after making his return to full Liverpool training, according to a reliable journalist.

Mirror correspondent David Maddock reported on his personal Twitter account on Monday that the German midfielder looked noticeably full of fire during the open session at Anfield.

Maddock explained that one “scissor challenge” on teammate Virgil van Dijk was of a “robust” nature as Jurgen Klopp put his charges through their paces.

Liverpool fans will be fuming if Can were to injure key defender Van Dijk ahead of the club’s biggest match in a decade. And who could blame them? The giant Dutchman has made a huge impact since joining from Southampton for £75million in the January window, and has already established himself as not only Liverpool’s outstanding defender, but also one of the best in the Premier League and across Europe. Van Dijk is not only a first-class technician who dominates in the air, is mobile across the ground and can ping 60 yard diagonal passes as if he was born for it. But he is also a leader and communicator, who is constantly keeping his teammates on their toes. Only the holy trinity of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are more important players for Liverpool, and it would be foolish in the extreme for a nailed-on starter to be injured from an over-zealous training ground tackle. Given Can is also on the verge of joining Juventus on a free transfer, he would never be forgiven by Liverpool fans were Van Dijk to miss the final.
