Liverpool co-owner John W Henry has revealed that two supporters’ songs about Mohamed Salah are his favourites ever sung at Anfield.

The Fenway Sports Group principal shareholder told AP News that he has been delighted how fans have taken to the Egyptian since he joined last summer.

In a revealing anecdote Henry explained how Salah’s goal-laden campaign has highlighted the bond between supporters and the club.

“His record-setting scoring became one of the biggest stories in England this year,” Henry said about Salah to AP News. “Perhaps my favourite Anfield songs ever are a couple about Mo. We are proud of more than what he has meant to us on the field.

“It is highly significant for a global club with a particular set of values to have a huge star who personifies what can be accomplished with unity rather than the divisions among people we see so often these days.”

OPINION

Forget You’ll Never Walk Alone. Who could blame Henry for humming Salah songs in the shower every morning given the monumental impact made by arguably the finest signing of the FSG era? In the eight years in which the Boston-based investors have held the reins, there have been some brilliantsrecruits, some of whom, notably Luis Suarez and Philipe Coutinho, secured huge profits for the club after ripping up the English top flight. None have made a bigger impact than Salah, who has swept the honours board this season to land every award going after banging in 44 goals from 51 matches in all competitions. The most important match of the lot is about to be played, Saturday’s Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev. Should Salah spearhead Liverpool to a historic triumph, he cannot only count on a lucrative new contract, but also the personal endorsement of Henry, his biggest fan.
