Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is a surprise inclusion in the squad to take part in their training camp in Marbella this week, and fans have taken to Twitter to react angrily to the decision.
As announced on the club’s official website, the 24-year-old is set to join the squad as they jet out on Wednesday for a four-day camp to begin preparations for the Champions League final.
The Germany international, who has been left out of his country’s squad for the World Cup, has been sidelined with a back injury since March.
The club say that he is joining his teammates in order to continue his rehabilitation, with his fitness to be monitored on a daily basis to work out when he will be able to return to full training.
Can is out of contract at Anfield this summer and has been heavily linked with a move away from the club on a free transfer, with Serie A champions Juventus reported to be his next destination.
Fans have taken to Twitter to slam the decision to take Can with the rest of the squad, with many calling for him to be let go by the club amid the rumours of his exit.
