Liverpool fans on social media celebrated the idea that defender Trent Alexander-Arnold was about to be named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup.

Paul Joyce, the northern football correspondent for The Times, shared via his personal Twitter account that the uncapped teenage defender was going be in the England squad that was set to travel to Russia in order to compete for the World Cup in the summer.

The respected journalist’s claim that Alexander-Arnold was set to receive good news about his summer sent Reds fans into party mode as they were thrilled that his latest season at Anfield was being rewarded.

One fan tweeted that this news was the reason they had turned on their Twitter notifications so they didn’t miss it, while another supporter stated that despite being 19-years-old, Alexander-Arnold had more than warranted his England opportunity.

The teenage right-back has been a regular for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, featuring 33 times across all competitions.

Alexander-Arnold, along with putting in impressive defensive performances, has chipped in three goals and two assists to help his side’s attacking threat in his outings.

Fans will soon find out whether Joyce’s information is correct as Southgate is set to name his England squad on Wednesday afternoon, as reported by the BBC.
