Harry Wilson’s imminent move to Rangers will pave the way for superstardom.

The 21-year-old forward is that good, or at least he will be after a year playing regularly for a club who are considered failures if they don’t win virtually every game.

Speculation is intensifying that Steven Gerrard’s most exciting signing yet since taking the Rangers reigns earlier this month is all but done.

The Scottish Sun claim the Glasgow giants are confident of wrapping up the year-long loan capture of Wilson by the time Gerrard officially takes over on 1 June.

Some have mistakenly painted the 21-year-old as a striker, or even a playmaker operating from deep.

He is neither. Wilson is a left footer who operates on the right flank in the mould of brilliant Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah and the likes of Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale and Arjen Robben.

Like that gilded quartet, the rising Anfield star is mobile, direct and with a real eye for goal. For Liverpool Under-23s, he has scored 32 goals in 60 matches. During a loan spell at Hull City in the second half of last season, Wilson netted seven times, as well as supplying four assists.

Those are the numbers that are mouthwatering for Rangers fans who can look forward to him causing some serious damage next season.

Wilson’s first task will be to get into the team and nail down the right-flank role ahead of incumbent Daniel Candeias, a reliable performer in his recently-completed debut campaign.

He should then go from strength to strength working under a manager who knows his game so well from working for 18 months at the Liverpool academy.

Wilson has all the attributes to become a world beater under the right coach and in the right environment.

His imminent move to Ibrox could prove the ideal trigger.
