Liverpool centre-forward Daniel Sturridge wants to quit Anfield in the summer, according to Anfield Edition.

The news website claims that the 28-year-old is keen to leave the Merseyside club in the summer and would prefer a move to the Midlands.

It is understood that he would ideally like a switch to newly-promoted Wolves and is awaiting interest from them, while a switch to Aston Villa is on the cards if they secure promotion via the play-offs.

The report details that the 28-time capped England international has a fragile relationship with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after he wasn’t invited to the Champions League final on Saturday.

Sturridge is reportedly on a mega £120,000-a-week deal with the Reds, but has fallen down the pecking order and endured an unsuccessful loan spell with West Brom in the second half of the season due to injury.

Good move for Liverpool?

Nobody at Liverpool doubts the natural ability of Sturridge and he is definitely good enough for a first-team role ahead of next season.

However, injuries have plagued his career and that proved the case once again during his time with relegated West Brom.

He could still make an impact next season if he gets time on the pitch and Liverpool fans will be sad to see him leave if he departs.

Likely to happen?

It seems like Sturridge’s five-year spell with Liverpool could be coming to its conclusion, but the question is who will be willing to meet his wage demands next season and take a risk on signing him.

It is hard to see him performing a dramatic U-turn to save his Anfield career and would leave now with a record of 64 goals in 133 appearances for the club.
