When Philippe Coutinho left Liverpool in January, many would have expected the club to try and replace the mercurial Brazilian straight away.

Jurgen Klopp and his team however decided to plough on with their current squad, a move which has paid massive dividends as the Reds kicked on to qualify for the Champions League final on Saturday.

However, now that the summer transfer window is open the Reds will be looking to bring in attacking reinforcements as they try and build a Premier League-winning squad for next season.

According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Liverpool have registered their interest in Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, who looks likely to move on from the Bernabeu this summer.

Don Balon claim that the Welsh wing wizard has eyes on a move back to former club Tottenham, but the Reds and Chelsea are also in the hunt for his signature.

If true, the Reds must blow their rivals out of the water for the three-time Champions League winner, who would be a seriously exciting addition to an already potent Liverpool attack.

A front four containing Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Bale would make Liverpool the most-feared attacking force in England, and possibly Europe.

There may be issues with Bale’s large salary and injury record, but if the Reds want to challenge Manchester City’s dominance next season then they need to take risks with their investments this summer.

Bale knows what it takes to succeed in the Premier League, and his experience of winning countless trophies with Madrid will only reinforce his contribution to the Liverpool dressing room.

Another added bonus for Liverpool here would be denying a rival the return of a game-changing player, with Spurs sure to become a major force in the title race if they secured Bale this summer.

Liverpool must therefore move fast and blow everyone out of the water for the 28-year-old, who would help the club towards their first-ever Premier League title.
