Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be looking to build a squad capable of mounting a sustained challenge for the Premier League title next season, and the Reds will need to bring in some big-money reinforcements to make that a reality.
RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita is already set to join the club in a £52.75million deal, but with Emre Can set to leave the club at the end of his contract, Liverpool will need further midfield reinforcements this summer.
One player who would a perfect partner for Keita in midfield is Nice dynamo Jean-Michael Seri, who is set to leave the Ligue 1 club this summer.
As reported by Sky Sports, Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Arsenal have held talks with the 26-year-old’s agent ahead of a potential summer swoop, with Chelsea also interested.
The broadcaster claim that Seri is rated around £40million by Nice, but any deal that would see him head to the Emirates will be stalled on until Arsenal appoint their next boss.
This is the perfect opportunity for the Reds to swoop in and hijack a deal for Seri, who was on the verge of joining La Liga giants Barcelona last summer.
The diminutive 5ft 6in midfielder is highly skilful in possession, being able to use his considerable pace to dribble past opponents and find the right pass.
It is his passing ability that is most impressive – Seri registered 10 assists from central midfield for Nice this season – with his wide range of passing being demonstrated on a regular basis.
He would provide a perfect foil for the versatile Keita, who is slightly more defensive minded, but has a better eye for goal than Seri.
Both have brilliant engines and would be a force to be reckoned with in midfield if they are paired together at Anfield, with their dynamism sure to cause any Premier League side a massive problem.
While £40million is not cheap, Seri would be worth every penny, and adding him to the Liverpool midfield would be a masterstroke from Klopp in his search for Premier League glory.
