Sheyi Ojo was handed a golden chance to ensure a bright Liverpool future by going on loan to Fulham but the speedy winger squandered his golden chance.

The 20-year-old demon joined the Championship side last August in order to help their promotion bid, but with the Cottagers set to compete in the play-off final the winger is nowhere to be seen.

Ojo has featured 24 times for Fulham this season, scoring four goals and two assists, with the pacey winger being generally disappointing considering how golden his opportunity was to play for the Championship.

Fulham play attacking football, something that not only should have unleashed Ojo’s full potential, but a style that should have made it easy for him to showcase his talent.

However the 20-year-old failed to make Fulham’s squad for the last four league games of the season and wasn’t called upon to be involved in their play-off semi-finals against Derby.

Ojo did have a couple of injury problems which affected his availability in the season, however it was his failure to deliver enough of his potential on a regular basis that saw him lose his place in the first-team.

Granted Slavisa Jokanovic is only allowed five of the six loanees at Fulham in a matchday squad for any given game, as reported by Get West London, which sees someone always sacrificed but Ojo has made the manager’s decision too easy.

If Ojo, who is contracted to the Reds until 2020, would have been able to prove that he is more than just raw potential this season, then his future would have been ensured.

The Reds have a lot of talented wingers, young and established, so if anything, they need to start whittling down their options to make space in their team.

Therefore given that he has shown some glimpses, there is probably a Championship team that will pay a respectable fee to acquired him permanently this summer and the Reds should let him go.

Jurgen Klopp knows there’s several wingers ahead of Ojo in the pecking order and his failure to blow everyone away at Craven Cottage this season, which he should have, proves he should be binned in the next window.
