The hunt to sign Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has revved up as Cardiff City, AC Milan, Lazio, Fulham and Atalanta are all keen on the player, according to Goal.

The football website state that the Bluebirds are leading the race to sign the 6ft 3in tall (Source: Transfermarkt) midfielder on loan with AC Milan and Lazio both registering an interest in signing him on a permanent basis.

Goal report that Atalanta are interested in signing Grujic on loan with Fulham being in contact to ask to be kept informed of developments regarding the player.

It is believed that talks have already taken place with Cardiff about a move and that the Reds are unlikely to consider selling him for anything less than £10million, which is double the amount they paid for him.

Good move for Liverpool?

It’s a good move if a loan exit is sanction and that does seem the most likely situation based on this report.

Goal claim that the Reds want him to work on the defensive side of his game and would like him to find a club in the Premier League to do that with.

This implies that they are only keen on letting him go out on a temporary basis to improve in order for him to return a better player capable of playing in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team.

Grujic only managed to make three Premier League appearances for the Reds in their 2017/18 campaign and was starved of chances before being loan out to Cardiff City in January.

While in the Championship he seem to flourish as he was getting regular football and Klopp needs to ensure he gets lots of playing time next season in order to continue his development.

Likely to happen?

A loan exit seems very likely as the giant midfielder won’t get to regularly kick a ball at Anfield in the upcoming season.

It’s unlikely that AC Milan or Lazio would be willing to stump up a fee above £10million to get the Reds to even consider selling him, so it’s safe to say his permanent exit is off the cards for now.

However as this report shares there are some new contenders for his signature, it seems the pursuit of him is just starting to ramp up as club realise he could be available to sign.

Although with Neil Warnock’s side already holding talks about him it seems likely that he will end up playing his football with them once again.
