Liverpool could make an approach to sign Porto defender Diogo Queiros in the coming days, according to Correio da Manha.

The Portuguese publication claims that the Reds and Premier League rivals Arsenal could make contact with an offer for the 19-year-old.

It is understood that the centre-back could be sold for around £13million by Portuguese giants Porto, despite the fact he has a release clause of around £22million.

Queiros has been playing with Porto’s reserve side and is yet to make an appearance for the senior team, but is a highly-rated talent that has also attracted the interest of Italian club Roma.

Good move for Liverpool?

Queiros is not someone that could make an immediate impact at Anfield and would be a signing very much intended for the future.

The Portugal Under-20 internatonal is still a rising star that would be well off Premier League standard, but is attracting strong interest for a good reason.

He would surely link up with the Reds’ youth team initially if he joined the Merseyside club and senior manager Jurgen Klopp could do with turning to finding a proven defender to partner Virgil van Dijk next season.

Likely to happen?

Queiros certainly appears to be on the Liverpool radar with a move mooted imminently and it will be interesting to see if a switch to the Premier League is on the horizon.
