Liverpool fans heaped praise on defender Dejan Lovren after watching him play for Croatia in the World Cup against Nigeria on Saturday.
The 28-year-old centre-back, who was a regular fixture of the Reds’ first-team in his latest campaign, helped his nation keep a clean sheet and record a 2-0 victory in their first game of the World Cup 2018.
Lovren may have put in several stellar performances for Jurgen Klopp’s side across the 43 appearances he made in the recently concluded season, but some fans couldn’t believe how good he was for Croatia.
One supporter tweeted to cheekily question who this guy was after watching the first-teamer play a 40-yard pass with the outside of his foot which successfully found his teammate.
While several fans took to Twitter to proclaimed that Lovren’s impressive display was a result of his new found confidence and that this is why Reds supporters should do their best to get behind him and cheer the defender on.
Lovren will be hoping to put in another excellent display for Croatia when his nation take on Lionel Messi’s Argentina on Thursday in their second game of the tournament.
