Liverpool have reportedly “overall agreed” a deal to sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson – and fans have taken to Twitter to react with excitement and scepticism.

Italian transfer site Tutto Mercato Web claim the Merseyside giants are working on a deal to sign the Brazil international despite widespread reports in the English media that their interest has waned and he is set to join Real Madrid later this summer.

It is said that Liverpool are in talks with Roma over a £57million transfer and are “working harder and harder” to nail down  a deal in the coming weeks, although the player is likely to wait until after the World Cup before deciding his final destination.

Alisson was in action for Brazil on Sunday night as they started their World Cup campaign with a shock 1-1 draw against Switzerland.

The pre-World Cup favourites took an early lead through a fabulous long-range Philippe Coutinho strike but were pegged back by a second-half header by Steven Zuber as they failed to win their opening match of the tournament for the first time since 1978.

Alisson has been touted for a move to Anfield since January, when Liverpool were first said to have made an approach to Roma.

Some supporters are excited by their side’s new strong link to the 26-year-old, while others are concerned that no other media are reporting that a deal for the keeper is close.
