Aleksandr Golovin starred for hosts Russia as they kicked off the World Cup in style on Thursday with a 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia – and Liverpool fans on Twitter demand the club try to sign him this summer.
The CSKA Moscow attacker was in fine form for his nation, as they made a dominant start to this summer’s major international tournament.
He made two assists during the 5-0 demolition and even capped off the game with a stunning free-kick to get himself on the scoresheet.
Golovin has certainly made a name for himself with a dazzling performance on the biggest stage of them all, with games against Egypt and Uruguay still on the horizon in Group A.
The attacking midfielder is currently on the books with Russian club giants CSKA, where he scored seven goals and supplied six assists in 40 appearances during the recent season.
He is a product of the club’s academy and has made 113 senior appearances for CSKA, which includes experience in the Champions League.
Golovin, 22, certainly caught the attention of watchers during the World Cup curtain-raiser and Liverpool fans on social media are convinced that he would be a great addition to their squad ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
The Merseyside club are yet to really replace their playmaker Philippe Coutinho since his departure to Barcelona in January and perhaps Golovin is the creator they are searching for.
