Turkey international and Freiburg centre-back Caglar Soyuncu is in talks with four Premier League clubs amid interest from Liverpool, according to Turkish Football.

The football news site report that Arsenal are in pole for the 22-year-old, with the two sides looking to agree a fee after concrete talks were held.

Turkish Football however claim that there are four Premier League sides in the hunt for the young 6ft 2in enforcer [Transfermarkt], with his agent confirming a link with Liverpool.

Mustafa Dogru is quoted as saying: “What I will say regarding the Liverpool link is that there were four to five Premier League clubs scouting him over the international break.

“There are four Premier League sides who’ve made a move for Soyuncu, that we are in talks with.”

Good move for Liverpool?

Absolutely.

Soyuncu has developed into a formidable defender during his time at Freiburg, with the 22-year-old belying his years with strong, assertive performances at the back.

His powerful play looks perfectly suited to the Premier League, and with Liverpool needing a new centre-back this summer, a move looks to make perfect sense.

Soyuncu has been rated around £35million, which is a reasonable fee in today’s market for such a young player, and Liverpool would do very well to snap him up this summer.

Likely to happen?

It looks like Arsenal are in the lead to sign Soyuncu, with the Gunners holding the longest-standing interest in the Turkey international.

Their talks look to be far more advanced than those with the other Premier League clubs, and the likelihood is that Soyuncu will end up at the Emirates next season.

However, if those talks were to break down over a fee, then Liverpool would surely be in a good position to swoop in for the defender.
