Liverpool assistant manager Zeljko Buvac is in a three-horse race to be the next manager of Fenerbahce, according to The Scottish Sun.

The national newspaper state that the Reds senior man, who has been absent from Anfield for personal reasons since April, is in the running to take over as boss of the Turkish giants along with David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

Turkish news outlet Sporx reported that Fenerbahce were finally negotiating a move with Buvac and as it stands they agree on every issue.

It is believed that the Turkish side’s technical director Damien Comolli wishes to be able to inform the club in an upcoming meeting on Wednesday (today) who they should appoint.

OPINION

It seems the writing is on the wall for Buvac at Anfield as at the very least he is fielding job offers to secure his exit from the Reds. While there have been mixed reports about what occurred at the club regarding the assistant manager it seems clear that whatever happened will cause him to leave. Jurgen Klopp has already welcomed back Pep Lijnders to his coaching staff in recent weeks which seems to imply that the club are also preparing for a life without Buvac. With a decision expected to be made regarding the manager’s position of Fenerbahce shortly then Reds supporters could finally know for certain if their assistant coach is returning. It seems like that the Turkish giants will go for Buvac as according to the report he agrees on every issue with the club so it seems like it should be an easy decision for the club to make.
