Jack Wilshere has confirmed that he will be leaving Arsenal at the end of June – and Liverpool fans on Twitter have rallied to urge the club to sign him now that he is set to become available on a free.
The midfielder revealed on his official Instagram account that after unsuccessful discussions with the Gunners about a new deal he will leave the Emirates Stadium when his current contract expires at the end of June.
He has been with Arsenal since the age of nine and made a sensational first-team breakthrough as a teenager, but a spate of injuries has halted his career with them.
Wilshere will now become available for a fresh challenge next season and the Daily Star reports that West Ham, Newcastle Everton, Crystal Palace, Wolves and Fulham also keen on signing him.
He is a left-footed midfielder with 34 international caps for England and once delivered a man of the match performance against Barcelona as a youngster.
The technically gifted midfielder has been unable to convince new Arsenal boss Unai Emery he can feature in his plans and it will be intriguing to see where he ends up.
Liverpool fans on social media are insisting that the Merseyside club take a punt on him and feel he could reignite his stuttering career at Anfield.
The Reds have seen ex-Arsenal player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain transform since he joined them last summer and believe Wilshere could follow a similar path.
