Nabil Fekir’s agent Jean-Pierre Bernes has claimed his client could still join Liverpool this summer – and fans of the club have gone into meltdown on Twitter.
The France attacking midfielder was on the verge of signing for the Merseyside giants for a fee of around £53million earlier this month after extensive talks but the deal dramatically collapsed after a medical had highlighted issues with his right knee.
Lyon released a statement to confirm negotiations with Liverpool had broken down and claimed their prize asset would remain for the 2018-19 season.
But Bernes suggested such a scenario was far from nailed down as he delivered the latest on his client’s future while on television on Monday night.
Asked on French TV channel LCI by presenter Patrick Chene why Fekir didn’t join Liverpool , Bernes said: “Um he didn’t sign because um… it is not over! This is not the end of the story.”

There is little doubt that Bernes’ revelation has met with excitement from Liverpool fans on social media.
A large section of supporters were shattered earlier this month when the Fekir deal did not go through but the immediate reaction to the latest twist is overwhelmingly positive, including comments such as “oh my days” and “wow”.
