21-year-old Liverpool midfielder Allan Souza will jet off with Eintracht Frankfurt tomorrow for a trial with the Bundesliga side.

They confirmed that the Brazilian will join them as they head to the USA for their training camp on Saturday, although it is yet to be decided whether he will play in the friendlies or not.

Talking on the official Frankfurt site, sporting director Bruno Hubner said: “He wants to take the opportunity to show what he can do.”

The news was confirmed on the official Eintracht Frankfurt site on Friday afternoon.

OPINION

The midfielder joined from Inter Milan in 2015 for a fee of around £640k, but hasn’t been able to follow in the footsteps of his more illustrious Brazilian colleagues at Anfield due to a lack of a work permit. He has already played in the Bundesliga, playing 16 matches for Hertha Berlin in the 2016/17 season. More recently he played 20 games for Apollon Limassol last season, but his loan spell was cut short after an injury and Allan had to have shoulder surgery in April. Now he’s recovered, Liverpool are set to loan him out again in a bid to get him fit and work on getting a work permit for him. It’s yet to be decided whether he will play the friendlies with Eintracht Frankfurt, but if he does get the chance he needs to grasp it with both hands. It must be frustrating for Allan but he needs to concentrate and keep playing while Liverpool work behind the scenes to do what’s necessary to get his paperwork sorted out for the UK.
