Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas are set to table a £12million offer for Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim that Besiktas are set to offer Mignolet a way out of Anfield after he lost his number one spot to Loris Karius with the club subsequently bringing in Brazil international Alisson this summer.

The Sun report that Jurgen Klopp is set to allow Mignolet to leave for the right price, with the Belgium international stopper expected to head into talks later this week.

OPINION

It was always expected that Mignolet would leave Anfield this summer after being ousted as number one by Karius last season. However, the Belgian’s chances of leaving looked to have taken a hit following Alisson’s arrival after Karius was said to be disappointed and angry with Klopp for the decision, with the German looking likely to leave. Danny Ward’s move to Leicester has meant that one of Mignolet or Karius is likely to remain at the club this season, and it now looks like Mignolet will be the one who gets a chance somewhere else. Should Besiktas submit this £12million bid then there is no reason why the move will not go through, with that looking an extremely reasonable price for the 30-year-old. Liverpool fans will not begrudge Mignolet this move either, with the Belgian being a good servant to the club over the years despite some dodgy patches of form.
