Dennis Wise has predicted Liverpool to win the Premier League title in the upcoming 2018/19 season.

The Sky Sports pundit and former Chelsea star shared that he thought it was now time for Jurgen Klopp to step up to the plate and lead the Reds to glory in the league.

Wise complimented the Reds’ transfer business and highlighted the arrivals of Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker when predicting where the Merseyside giants would finish in their upcoming Premier League campaign.

“This is the team, they showed glimpses of it last year and y’know they finished fourth but they also got to the final of the Champions League,” said Wise while on Sky Sports, in a clip uploaded to the broadcaster’s website.

“And what he’s (Jurgen Klopp) added I think now it’s time for Klopp to step up to the plate y’know and I think he’s spent £178million on players that he has brought in and he has filled gaps that needed to be filled.

“He’s got an awesome three upfront, Mo Salah has got to do it again with a little bit of help from Mane (Sadio) and Firmino (Roberto).

“They’ve added a little bit of quality with Shaqiri but I think what they’ve done is brought in Alisson Becker and I think that was important.”

OPINION

The former Chelsea star seems pretty confident that by the end of the 2018/19 season that the Reds will have lifted their first Premier League title. It should be no surprise to hear pundits backing Klopp’s side to lift the elusive league title next season as everyone would have been impressed by the club’s summer transfer business. The Reds have quietly conducted the deals they needed to get done and gave fans the goalkeeper they have been dreaming of when they successfully captured Becker from AS Roma. While the majority of Liverpool’s new recruits will need time to settle into life at Anfield, hopefully it doesn’t take them too long. However one recruit that should be able to hit the ground running is Shaqiri as knows the Premier League like the back of his hand at this point. The 26-year-old winger has played 84 times in England’s top-flight and should know exactly what is expected of him as soon as the season gets underway.
