Liverpool have agreed a fee with Roma for the transfer of Alisson Becker, according to a reliable journalist.

According to trusted Times journalist Paul Joyce, the Reds have agreed a fee in the region of £66million for the Brazil international.

He also claims that permission has been granted for the club to discuss personal terms with the player.

The 25-year-old kept 17 clean sheets in 37 Serie A games for the Italian side last season and represented his country at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

OPINION

This could be the signing of the summer, not just for Liverpool but the entire Premier League. This signing could change the entire complexion of the top-flight. The Reds are fixing their one major weakness by looking to secure one of the best goalkeepers in world football, they could now be genuine title favourites for the league title next season. The failings of current goalkeepers Lorius Karius and Simon Mignolet have been well documented, with the former being to blame for their Champions League final defeat last season. No longer will Jurgen Klopp’s team have to worry about conceding silly goals, hesitation in the penalty area or goalkeeping howlers, this signing would make the side fundamentally stronger. When you factor in the other business they’ve already completed, the signings of Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri so far this summer, Manchester City could finally have a direct rival in the next campaign.
