Liverpool’s talks to sign Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir are progressing well, according to Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones.

The trusted journalist claims on his personal Twitter account that the Frenchman’s potential transfer is getting closer in what could be a “defining week” for the Champions League runners-up.

As reported by The Liverpool Echo, the Merseyside club had agreed on a £52.8million transfer a few weeks ago, but the transfer eventually broke down due to an issue with the medical.

The 25-year-old goal machine scored 23 goals in 40 appearances last season for French side Lyon, whilst also providing eight assists from the attacking midfield position.

OPINION

Wow, what a day this is turning out to be for Liverpool. First, a fee and personal terms have reportedly been agreed for world-class goalkeeper Alisson Becker, and now talks are reportedly progressing well for the signing of French attacker Nabil Fekir. It does seem strange that Liverpool have suddenly gone from being medium size spenders to now spending huge fees on multiple players, although some of that can be recouped from the £105million initial fee they received from the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, with an additional £37million also due in bonuses. It seems that the club’s owners have seen the relative success of the side last season, where they almost won the Champions League, and have decided to go on all-out assault this summer in order to finally secure some major trophies. Good news for Liverpool, bad news for the rest of the Premier League and Europe
