Image for Carragher reveals possible Everton bid

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has teased that Everton could receive a bid for Jordan Pickford this summer.

The Anfield favourite replied to a journalist on Twitter after praising the goalkeeper’s performance for England in the 2018 World Cup semi-final.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper has shown some excellent form for this national team in the competition, saving a penalty in the penalty shootout against Columbia in the last-16 and making a number of other impressive saves.

The former Sunderland ‘keeper made 46 appearances for his domestic club Everton last season, starting every Premier League game and helping the Merseyside club to an 8th place finish.

OPINION

It would be an exceptional piece of business if Liverpool could possibly tempt him from Everton. He is clearly a fantastic goalkeeper and that is exactly what Jurgen Klopp’s side need. The 24-year-old can pull off outstanding saves and is excellent with the ball at his feet, he would be perfect for the club’s style of play and would add calmness to the defensive unit. Pickford would be a huge upgrade on their current goalkeepers Lorius Karius and Simon Mignolet, who are very error-prone. Unfortunately for Liverpool fans, it’s probably never going to happen. Jamie Carragher was probably just teasing both of the Merseyside clubs fans when he tweeted. There would be absolute uproar if Everton’s most valuable asset went across to their most bitter rivals and Pickford would forever be an enemy to The Toffees if he was to make the move. Jurgen Klopp and the Anfield faithful may well want him, but it’s just not going to happen.
