Liverpool have already snapped up a Chelsea youngster this summer, but they should go back for Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Last summer it was Dominic Solanke, this summer it’s Isaac Christie-Davies. Liverpool are making a habit of signing Chelsea youngsters but they should be pursuing the best one of the lot.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is one of England’s most outstanding young players, as proven by his inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

It was hoped that the 22-year-old would get a first-team shot with his parent club last season but instead, Chelsea signed both Danny Drinkwater and Tiémoué Bakayoko in last summer’s transfer window, which meant he had to get game time out on-loan.

The midfielder eventually joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan and the standard of his performances for the Premier League side forced his inclusion in the England squad, proving that he’s one of the most talented midfielders in the country.

His technical ability is outstanding, in terms of passing and dribbling, and when you combine that with his physical strength and ability to hold the ball under pressure, he’s got a unique skillset. He’s England’s very own Mousa Dembele.

He made 25 appearances for Roy Hodgson’s side in the last campaign, scoring two goals and providing five assists in all competitions (TransferMarkt).

He has made Chelsea look very silly indeed because, despite spending £34million on Drinkwater (TransferMarkt) and £36million on Bakayoko (TransferMarkt), Loftus-Cheek is a better player than both of them.

Jurgen Klopp would be able to work wonders with the Englishman at Liverpool, adding to their core of English talent that includes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Solanke.

He possesses qualities that the other Liverpool players don’t have and would add so much to the team, plus he can only get better at just 22-years-old.

Moreover, the Guardian report he is once again surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and is likely to go out on loan again next season.

Liverpool should pick up the phone to Chelsea again and make an offer, Loftus-Cheek is a special talent and needs to show it on the biggest stage, Anfield could be the place to do just that.
