Liverpool beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0 in a pre-season friendly on Thursday night, and fans couldn’t believe how well one of the goal-scorers played.
Daniel Sturridge continued his fine pre-season bagging one but it was Lazar Markovic who grabbed the attention again.
The 24-year-old winger has been Liverpool’s forgotten man since he signed for £22.5million from Benfica in 2014.
He’s been on a succession of loans since and only played 34 games in total for Liverpool, but there are clear signs that he’s back to his best.
He was one of the best players on the pitch last night and made another pre-season impression to give fans and Jurgen Klopp something to think about.
Here are the best reactions from Liverpool fans:
Top finish from Markovic last night ???pic.twitter.com/a8uWcvjxIT

Just hoping we have one more player like Shaqiri who can make a difference even if he comes on as a sub. Markovic should be on bench atleast. Had enough of Solanke and Origi. Solanke should be loaned for him to improve. Origi should be sold. Not just worth it. #LFC

Please have players like Markovic on bench. They'll at least do something as a sub. Rodgers played him as RWB which is not his position. We have genuinely never seen him play in his preferred position.
Would really love to see more of him. #LFC— Aditya (@MoManeMino) July 20, 2018
I'd honestly sell Lallana and keep Markovic.

I never understood why Markovic was never kept on as a squad player. He seems to cause no problems and his pace and touch could be useful off the bench. We never give him a proper chance yet likes of Solanke given too many chances.

OPINION
It’s make or break time for Markovic. He arrived with huge promise and fell away really quickly after his move from Benfica but there are signs that the player Liverpool thought they were buying is finally emerging. Is it too late? Quite possibly. He has one year left on his contract, but some fans are convinced that he deserves a shot, with one saying he’s better than Solanke and should be given a chance, even if it’s off the bench. Another said that he is the new Nabil Fekir while another said they should sell Adam Lallana and keep hold of Markovic. Will Jurgen Klopp see things the same way?
