Many Liverpool fans took to social media to share their surprise after a report linked Simon Mignolet with a move to Barcelona.
Spanish publication Marca claimed that the Spanish giants had drew up a list of potential goalkeepers for the club to sign this summer and that the Reds’ current 6ft 3in tall shot-stopper (Transfermarkt) was one of the options being considered.
The report stated that Barcelona were in the market for a new keeper as they were resigned to losing Jasper Cillessen this summer.
Upon reading that Mignolet was on Barca’s radar as they searched for a new goalkeeper it caused a lot of Reds fans to share their shock over the news on Twitter.
One questioned whether this was real life upon hearing the link while another was willing to part company with Mignolet for 50p.
Live 4 Liverpool has rounded up a range of tweets from Liverpool supporters about the surprise transfer story:

We got 12.5m for Ward who played 3 games for us in 6years, LFC should try to and expect to get at least 15-20m for migs who has played over 100+games for us.

Reports in Spain suggest Barcelona are interested in Simon Mignolet. They may as well claim PSG have a keen interest in Origi and Madrid will break the world record transfer fee for Chirivella.

One bench for another.

OPINION
It seems that no Reds fans are questioning the thought of Mignolet leaving Anfield shortly but no one seems convinced that he’ll soon be at the Nou Camp. Its understandable that the 30-year-old could soon exit the Reds due to Alisson’s arrival at the club but as Don Steele tweeted, he’ll just be exchanging one bench for another. Given that Mignolet seemed like a frustrated, if not supportive, figure sat on the Reds’ bench in the second half of last season, it’s hard to imagine him moving to a club that won’t play him regularly. While some Reds supporters opted to laugh at the link if Mignolet rocks up at Barcelona and does well, then it will have every Liverpool fan questioning what had just happened.
