Some Liverpool fans took to social media in order to react to Loris Karius’ Instagram post following their side’s 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper updated his Instagram stories via his official account with a quote that seemed to be him reacting to the criticism he received following his latest display in pre-season.
While some Reds supporters tweeted to show their support for Karius, some opted to suggest that he stay off social media as he needed to get his head straight and confidence back in order to perform to his best.

Don’t know why he’d even look at social media right now. I can’t understand why these fans feel a need to abuse him , we have a new keeper just leave the guy alone he really shouldn’t respond #Karius #LFC

Dude should quit social media and get his confidence back. He has to take responsibility for whatsoever insult he receives. That's the first stage towards healing.

Good for him, he needs to put all that behind him, move on and seek a loan move for the sake of his career.

I don’t think anyone or at least I hope there is not one Liverpool fan on the planet taking joy from watching karius implode. I think the club need to step up and look after him, take him out of the squad, give him the support he needs. Playing him each week is not the answer!

I agree he needs support but the reality is that he won't get it off the fans here. He needs to move on a loan to get some game time and regain is confidence.

OPINION
It seems while Reds fans all agree that Karius’ displays in pre-season so far have been a concern as he has made a few blunders, they’re divided on how to react to the player clearly struggling to cope with the intense criticism. It’s fair to say that Karius has been showered with a lot of negative feedback for his recent performances and that some of it has crossed the line. However perhaps as some fans suggest he is better off staying away from social media and just focusing on getting his performances on the pitch right. While some may interpret shying away from social media as him avoiding hearing what fans have to say, if he is really struggling from a lack of confidence then he needs to block out any negativity.
