Some Liverpool fans reacted to Rhian Brewster tweeting about him being given the No.24 shirt ahead of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign getting underway.

The forward, who has blistering pace, tweeted via his personal account a brief message which included a picture of him smiling about him wearing the number 24 shirt after the Reds officially confirmed their squad’s numbers via their website on Friday.

Brewster is yet to make his senior debut for the senior side and his happiness over being allocated a squad number for the upcoming season saw one fan tweet that he had big shoes to fill as that was Joe Allen’s old number.

OPINION

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the Reds this season and that isn’t just because they look like being title contenders. Several Reds fans are eager to see the club’s young talent unleashed and that includes Brewster who has been prolific at youth level. One supporter even ambitiously tipped the 18-year-old forward to score 24 goals when he’s able to play a full campaign, which shows the level expectations surrounding the young talent. Jurgen Klopp will no doubt ease the speed demon into his team this season and give him valuable minutes in order to learn how to cope with playing in the Premier League. The only disappointment regarding Brewster being handed the No.24 is that he probably won’t be seen wearing it for a while yet. The teenager is currently out injured and is not expected, as reported by the Liverpool Echo, to be fit enough to feature until around Christmas time, so hopefully he will be able to boost the club’s firepower in the second half of the season when he’s fully fit.
